Art in practice: CARDBOARD CRAFTS - Part 1
Join me for a deep-dive into our household recycling bin where we will explore all the fun things you can create with cardboard.
My approach to creativity is all about exploration, playfulness and learning through the process of making art. It’s not about being perfect or even the end result at times. For me, it’s about the journey. Thank you for joining me as we embrace the mess and explore together.
This month, for my paid subscribers, I’m doing things a little different. I’m going to split the usual long ‘Art in practice’ article into two posts, one sent at the beginning of the month and another half way through. (Yes, I appreciate it’s already the 10th June, so I’m somewhat late.) In between these posts, I will send two more paid articles, which will include printable activity sheets and family art prompts. Let me know what you think of this plan, I’m always keen to hear your feedback.
This months deep-dive is all about cardboard crafts. We will delve into our household recycling bin up-cycling cardboard into all sorts of awesome creations. This post includes a huge amount of inspiration for your cardboard creativity, plus ideas for collecting free resources and handy tools to use.
In a world of finite resources and growing consumption, I love using simple recycled materials, like the humble cardboard box, to create play. Encouraging our little ones to repurpose what they already have is not only great for our planet, it also requires creative thinking.
The project ideas below are designed as a starting point, to ignite your imagination and inspire play. Remember there is no right or wrong, your crafts don’t need to look exactly like mine, I encourage you to get creative with the materials you have available and see what you can create.
